How Retractable Awnings Work
Retractable awnings use a folding-arm mechanism to extend and retract shade fabric from a wall-mounted cassette.
Cassette Housing
The awning fabric and folding arms retract into a sleek, sealed cassette mounted on the wall above the area you want shaded. When closed, the cassette protects the fabric from weather, UV, and debris — extending its lifespan.
Folding Arms
Spring-tensioned or gas-piston folding arms extend outward from the cassette, pulling the fabric taut across the desired shade area. The arms fold neatly back into the cassette when retracted.
Fabric Canopy
Premium UV-resistant, fade-proof fabric rated for outdoor use. Available in hundreds of colours and patterns. Blocks up to 98% of UV radiation and significantly reduces solar heat gain on covered areas.
Motor & Sensors
A tubular motor extends and retracts the awning at the touch of a button. Optional wind sensors detect gusts and auto-retract the awning. Sun sensors can auto-extend when UV levels rise.
