Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our products, pricing, and installation process.
Products & Materials
All our roll-up shutters, folding closures, and privacy screens are fabricated from high-grade extruded aluminum. Aluminum resists corrosion and requires minimal upkeep in the GTA's harsh climate. Awnings use UV-resistant fabric over powder-coated aluminum frames.
Roll-up shutters are solid aluminum systems that roll into compact housings for security and weather protection. Privacy screens are semi-transparent mesh systems providing shade while maintaining airflow. Folding closures operate on tracks and fold to the side, ideal for wide openings like cabanas and storefronts.
Our products are available in a wide range of powder-coated finishes including white, sand, brown, anthracite grey, black, and beige as standard colours. Custom RAL colour matching is also available for most product lines.
Both options are offered. Manual systems use cranks or straps. Motorized systems feature quiet tubular motors operated via wall switch, remote control, or smart home integration with Google Home and Amazon Alexa.
Yes, all products are engineered specifically for Canadian climates. Shutters provide insulation and aluminum components resist salt and freeze-thaw cycles. Awning fabrics are rated for four-season use.
Pricing & Quotes
Residential window shutters start from approximately $800–$1,200 per opening, while larger applications such as garage doors, storefront shutters, or full cabana enclosures range from $2,500 and up. Detailed quotes are provided free after consultation.
Consultations are completely free and no-obligation. A team member visits your property to take measurements, assess the space, discuss goals, and recommend suitable products. You'll receive a written quote within 2 hours.
Financing options are coming soon. Currently, we accept major credit cards, e-transfer, and cheque payments.
No hidden fees. Quotes are comprehensive covering supply, fabrication, and installation. Adjustments only occur if site conditions differ significantly from the consultation assessment, with customer approval required first.
Installation Process
Most residential installations — including a single garage door, window shutters, or a cabana enclosure — are completed within a single day. Larger commercial projects typically take two to three days.
Our typical lead time is 2 to 4 weeks from the date your order is confirmed. Rush timelines may be available depending on product type and capacity.
Minimal preparation needed. For interior installations, clear the area around openings. Our team handles all tools, hardware, and cleanup — we leave the site clean and tidy.
Installation is designed to be non-invasive. Mounting brackets secure into the structural frame with appropriate fasteners. Penetrations are sealed and finished neatly.
Yes — most of our work is retrofit installations. The housing box mounts above the existing frame. Side guides anchor to the wall on each side. The system is custom-fabricated to fit the exact dimensions of your opening with no adapters or gap-fills required.
Canada Shutter Pros is full-service, handling supply, fabrication, and professional installation. Supply-only orders are not offered.
Roll-Up Shutters
Interlocking aluminum slats travel in reinforced side guides and coil around a barrel inside a compact housing box mounted above the opening. When open the shutter is fully out of sight. When closed the slats lock together forming a solid, weather-tight panel. Operation is manual (strap or crank) or motorized via a tubular motor built into the barrel.
Yes. Roll-up shutters are commonly installed on residential windows, patio doors, garage openings, laneways, and outdoor structures including cabanas, pool houses, and gazebos. They deliver security, privacy, storm protection, and insulation from a single, unobtrusive system.
Manual shutters use a spring-balanced strap or hand crank and are cost-effective for occasional-use openings. Motorized is recommended for daily-use openings, larger openings, or anywhere you want remote or smart home control. We recommend motorized for most residential and commercial projects.
Yes. A closed shutter adds an insulating layer at every window and door opening. Foam-core slat profiles provide higher R-values, reducing heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter — lowering your HVAC costs over time.
Our shutters use extruded aluminum slat profiles — corrosion-resistant, low maintenance, available in solid or foam-core variants. Foam-core slats provide higher insulation values and enhanced rigidity for larger openings.

Privacy Screens
Motorized privacy screens roll vertically inside side guides and retract into a compact housing mounted above the opening. When lowered, the screen fabric creates a barrier against sun, wind, and insects while still allowing airflow and outward visibility.
Privacy screens are commonly installed on patios, pergolas, covered decks, balconies, outdoor kitchens, and large window openings. They are designed to close off outdoor spaces while maintaining ventilation and visibility.
No. Most screen fabrics are designed to allow airflow while reducing sunlight and glare. This helps keep outdoor areas cooler without making the space feel closed in.
Yes. When installed with side tracks and a sealed bottom bar, privacy screens act as a barrier that helps keep mosquitoes and other insects out of patios, pergolas, and outdoor seating areas.
Pergolas & Awnings
Many modern pergola systems include motorized louvers that close during light rain and direct water through built-in drainage channels.
Yes. Motorized privacy screens can be integrated into pergola structures to block wind, insects, or sunlight.
Retractable awnings use a folding arm mechanism that extends the fabric canopy outward from a wall-mounted cassette. When retracted, the arms fold back and the fabric rolls neatly into the housing, leaving the area fully open.
Yes. By shading windows and exterior walls, awnings help reduce solar heat gain, lowering indoor temperatures and reducing cooling demand during summer.
Should typically be retracted during strong wind conditions. Some motorized systems include wind sensors that automatically retract if speeds exceed safe limits.
Side-Folding Grilles
Side-folding grilles slide laterally into a side pocket and require no ceiling space. Roll-ups coil overhead and are better suited for smaller widths or tighter openings.
Yes. We offer curved track options to accommodate S-curves, 90° corners, or continuous arcs. Perfect for concourses, atriums, and non-linear storefronts.
No floor track is needed. The grilles hang from a top-mounted track and glide smoothly without interfering with flooring or foot traffic.
Service Areas
Canada Shutter Pros is based in Richmond Hill, Ontario. We serve the Greater Toronto Area and communities across Southern Ontario including Toronto, Vaughan, Markham, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Barrie, and Peterborough.
No travel fee within the core GTA and York Region. Locations beyond may incur travel fees based on distance and project scope, disclosed upfront in quotes.
Warranty & Maintenance
All Canada Shutter Pros installations come with a comprehensive 5-year warranty covering both materials and workmanship. Components failing under normal use are repaired or replaced at no cost.
Products require minimal maintenance. We recommend light cleaning with mild soapy water two to three times yearly and annual inspection of guides and mechanisms. Normal wear doesn't void the warranty.
Warranty excludes damage from misuse, accidental impact, unauthorized modifications, or failure to follow maintenance guidelines. Storm damage beyond normal Ontario weather is also excluded.
