When open, the housing box sits above the window frame and is visible, but it doesn't take away from the face of the home — particularly when powder-coated to match your exterior trim or wall colour. When closed, the clean horizontal slat lines sit flush and look intentional rather than tacked on. Most homeowners find it a significant visual improvement over window bars or security grilles.

Do they work with my existing window frames?

Yes. The system mounts to the wall or structural frame surrounding the window — the window itself is not modified. The housing box sits above the opening and side guides run down each side. Everything is custom-fabricated to your exact dimensions, so there are no adapters or visible gaps.

How do roll-up shutters compare to window bars?

Window bars are fixed, obstruct emergency egress, reduce daylight, and permanently alter the look of your home. Roll-up shutters retract completely when not in use and preserve full use of the window during the day, and insulated slat options are available. If a window is a required egress route, tell us at the consultation so we can plan for it.

Can shutters be motorized?

Yes. Motorized systems use a quiet tubular motor operated via wall switch or remote.

Are these the same as interior window shutters?

No. Interior window shutters, such as plantation shutters, are louvred panels inside the room. Roll-up window security shutters mount on the outside of the window and roll down as a solid aluminum curtain over the glass. We supply and install the exterior roll-up type only.
